Westminster Council is to be congratulated on this

This image shows a solid marble Italian staircase in St James Theatre, which I had the pleasure of visiting today.

It is there because Westminster council insist that an inspiring work of art is installed where a building is being refurbished – they also insisted that this was a theatre although its primary function seems to be as a restaurant.

This staircase has genuine splendour. Although brand new, it has that Victorian or Gatsby feel of opulence.

The food looked good too!
